Rental Policies

Here are some things you will want to keep in mind before and during rentals at Handy Andy.

  • Local identification is required.
  • Two forms of identification may be required.
  • A deposit is required on all rentals.
  • All Equipment Must Be Returned Clean
  • We are closed Sundays. Rental charges may apply over Sunday as specified by your rental agreement.
  • Reservations that are not picked up and are not cancelled in advance may be subject to a No-Show Fee of up to 100% of the estimated rental rate.

Payments & Deposit

  • A major credit or debit card must be presented at the time of rental.
  • We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover credit or debit cards.
  • Apple Pay and other mobile or digital wallet payments are not accepted for rental transactions.
  • Credit or debit card information cannot be accepted over the phone for rental deposits.
  • Cash is not accepted for rental deposits.
  • Apple Pay and other digital wallets may be accepted for non-rental purchases, including retail merchandise and propane.

Enviromental Fee

  • An environmental fee applies to certain rental items, including trucks, heavy equipment, U-Cart concrete, and certain trailers.
  • The environmental fee helps offset environmental and compliance costs associated with applicable rental equipment.
  • The environmental fee is a company-imposed charge and is not a government-imposed tax or fee.

Truck Rental Policies

  • All trucks must be returned to the renting station.
  • We rent trucks for the Greater Seattle area only (local).
  • Local is defined as less than 50 miles from the store location.
  • No trucks are allowed east of the Cascades.
  • Trucks are due back by the time and date specified on the contract.
  • Overtime charges can be as high as $20 per half hour.
  • All authorized drivers must be 21 or older and carry a valid driver's license.
  • Per Washington State law, all drivers must have personal insurance.
  • All drivers must carry proof of insurance.
  • We do not offer liability insurance.
  • We offer a collision damage waiver that covers the rental truck only (in the event of an accident involving another vehicle).
  • The collision damage waiver is not liability insurance.
  • The customer is liable for all damage to the rental truck if it strikes overhead or stationary objects.
  • All traffic violations are the responsibility of the renter.
  • All tolls are the responsibility of the renter.
  • Mileage readings are taken from the factory-installed odometer.
  • Mileage rates do not include gasoline.
  • Trucks are full of fuel upon pickup and must be returned full of fuel.
  • A fuel receipt is required upon return.
  • The fuel receipt must show the gallons of gas (not just a prepay receipt).
  • Trucks returned without a fuel receipt or with a prepay receipt will be charged a $10 minimum service fee plus any additional fuel needed.
  • All trucks and equipment must be returned clean. Cleaning fees may be added if not returned clean.
  • Trucks shall not be used in parades or to carry persons outside of the passenger compartment.

Text Message Consent

  • By providing your mobile phone number, you agree to receive text messages from Handy Andy Rent-A-Tool about your rentals. These may include reservation confirmations, e-sign links, receipts, and pickup or return reminders. Message frequency may vary. Standard message and data rates may apply.
